Daan Manneke

Daan Manneke was born on november 7, 1939.
He started his musical education at the Brabants Conservatorium, Tilburg (1963-1967): organ with H. Houet and Louis Toebosch , composition with Jan van Dijk; later organ study withj Kamiel D'Hooghe (Brussels) and composition with Ton de Leeuw (Amsterdam). This study with rewarded with the "composition price".
From 1972 to 2008 Daan Manneke worked at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. First is a teacher for 20th century music analysis and later as a composition teacher for more than 20 years. At the same institute he founded the department Young Talent Composition, and tutored young composition students for a long period.
Daan Manneke founded (1976) the chamber choir "Cappella Breda" and is its leader.

Among his many publications in musical magazines is also the 1978 "Werkboek voor improvisatie en groepscompositie", Working Method for improvisation and group conposing. (Amsterdam: Annie Bank , 1978).
Most of his works were written on commission .
